Fan Expo acquires several Wizard World Events

Fan Expo is one of the largest convention running organizations in the world, with Fan Expo events held in several locations such as Orlando and Denver. Wizard World used to be predominant in the world of conventions.

Now, according to an article from Forbes, Fan Expo acquired Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Portland (OR), St. Louis and Cleveland events from Wizard World.

Fan Expo HQ is a division of global events giant Informa.

Fan Expo HQ President, Aman Gupta was reported saying “We’re beyond thrilled to be able to offer that to fans in six new locations, and pleased that Wizard World recognized our ability to elevate guest experience to the next level. We’re looking forward to getting to know each of these individual communities, learn what they’re looking for, and raise the bar! Personally, I’m eager to contribute to the incredible legacy of the Chicago event, the second oldest comic event in North America (1972), and restore it to its former glory and beyond.”

Conventions are in trepidatious waters right now as COVID has ravaged the industry. A few events have started to come back including Anime Midwest in Chicago, while other events in denser locations such as the New York Auto Show have been cancelled or postponed.
