Des Moines Science Fiction & Fantasy Society, Inc. Presents DemiCon 30: It’s About Time Des Moines Science Fiction & Fantasy Society, Inc. will present their annual science fiction, fantasy, and gaming convention, DemiCon 30, taking place at the Holiday Inn Northwest (4800 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines) on May 3-5, 2019, and featuring nationally renowned authors Gail Carriger and Joe Haldeman, as well as award-winning artist John Picacio. DMSFFS is proud to bring DemiCon 30: It’s About Time to the Holiday Inn Northwest for a celebration of 30 years of our local sci-fi convention. DemiCon 30 will have costume contests, workshops and panels, animé, gaming (board games and role playing), live music, teen and children activities, an art show, and vendor rooms where you can buy some really unique merchandise from national and local Iowa businesses. Since this is the 30th anniversary of the convention, the theme will be time travel and a look back at our 30-year history. Friday will be “Flashback Friday” where you can dress up from themes of past years: superheroes, zombies, magic, steampunk, werewolves, dragons, and pirates! Of course, you can also have fun traveling through time as Dr, Who, or H.G. Wells, or The Terminator! Registration for the event can be found at demicon.org or purchased at the door. The Des Moines Science Fiction & Fantasy Society, Inc. (DMSFFS) is a non-profit charity organization with the mission of encouraging others to read, imagine, and think. DMSFFS partners with local charities for the enrichment of the community, provides educational workshops open to the public, and runs the annual science fiction, fantasy, and gaming convention, DemiCon.
