Details
OzCon celebrates all aspects of the Wizard of Oz phenomenon at its 53rd annual convention. Guests: This year's special guests included director/animator Doug Aberle, who animated the Nome King in the 1985 Disney motion picture Return to Oz, and John Fricke, premiere historian of Judy Garland and the 1939 MGM motion picture The Wizard of Oz. Programming: Saturday evening features a re-creation of the 1932 Wizard of Oz Radio Show sponsored by Jell-O, with live actors and sound effects. Purchase rare Oz treasures in the Dealers Room and the International Wizard of Oz Club auction. Programming includes presentations on The Lost Princess of Oz by L. Frank Baum, which celebrates its centennial in 2017; Eric Shanower's consideration of the Nomes in the Oz books; Colin Ayres's look at Cinar's animated Oz television serial; and the usual Oz quizzes, Oz treasure hunt, and the Oz Masquerade on Saturday afternoon, complete with cash prizes for the best costumes. And more! All of this is included in the entry fee, which grants attendance for the three days of OzCon 2017. Separate tickets are required for the Saturday evening Awards Banquet and for the Sunday afternoon cruise on the Columbia River. Tickets for both these events may be purchased at the same time you purchase OzCon entry tickets.
