Midwest FurFest is an annual convention which takes place in the west suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. We come together to celebrate the furry fandom, which includes art, literature and performances based around anthropomorphic animals. The origins of Midwest FurFest lie in the furry programming track of Duckon, an annual science fiction convention based out of Chicago. The furry track of the convention began to grow so large, that we were soon able to support our own convention. In 1999, Midwest Furry Fandom, Inc., was created as a 501(c)3 (non-profit corporation); one year later, Midwest Furfest was born. The first convention took place the weekend before Thanksgiving, which became a traditional weekend up until last year.Since 2000, the convention has grown from 388 attendees to 4,571 attendees in 2014, making it the second largest furry convention in the world. Additionally, the Midwest Furfest Art Show generates over $10,000 each year for the talented artists of furry fandom through auctions, donations, and benefits.2015 will mark the 16th anniversary of Midwest FurFest. We hope to see you there! We hope you can join us December 3 through December 5 for a weekend packed full of panels, events, dances, dealers, artists, as well as many opportunities to help raise money for this year’s charity. We are excited to be joined by our talented Guests of Honor: Lynette Eklund, Kory Bing, and Rachael Bock. Watch this website and to follow us @furfest on social media for all of the latest information about Midwest FurFest.
