About Gamicon 2025
Genres
Gamicon is a small game convention in Eastern Iowa, with a modest three-day program that might appeal to a handful of local board, card, and role-playing game enthusiasts. Despite its 26 years of running, it's mostly known just in Eastern Iowa, with limited appeal beyond that. The event offers a live game auction and a few "Play-to-Win Games," but it's not exactly the cutting-edge gaming experience some might hope for. The guest of honor this year is Nat Barmore, who co-created a niche Horror RPG that, while interesting, isn't exactly mainstream. The convention is moving to the Radisson Hotel Cedar Rapids this year, a change that might not make much difference to anyone but the smallest group of die-hard attendees. And if you're among the first 300 to pre-register, you might snag a swag bag, though it's not clear how coveted these really are. If you're looking for a more vibrant and exciting gaming convention, you might want to look elsewhere.
